What is a MACRO anyway?
Are you scratching your head and wondering…what is a macro? How do you count them and why in the world would you want to anyway?
Here is the short version...
Macronutrients (macro) are the three main nutrients that provide energy to our bodies: carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. Think of them as the fuel that keeps your body running like a well-oiled machine!
Carbohydrates are like the gasoline that powers your car. They provide quick energy to your body, which is why you often hear athletes talk about "carb-loading" before a big game or event.
Proteins are like the building blocks that help repair and grow your body. They're essential for building muscle, repairing tissues, and keeping your immune system strong.
Fats are like the oil that keeps your engine running smoothly. They provide a slow-burning source of energy to your body, help keep your skin and hair healthy, and are important for absorbing certain vitamins.
So, in short, macronutrients are the three key nutrients that provide energy and help keep your body functioning properly. Just like you need the right type of fuel for your car, you need the right balance of macronutrients to keep your body healthy and strong!
Learning how to use macro counting as a tool to keep your body running is key because if you are like me, I had NO IDEA what my normal looked like. I would swing from eating as little as possible to lose weight (which in the end backfired) to eating ALL of the things because I had restricted everything that tasted good and that I liked to eat. Weekends...don't get me started on the "I will start again on Monday" chants.
Although I am still terrible at using a drill gun (how is it even possible to not be able to use one 🤷🏻♀ ) I am so thankful that I learned how to use the tool of macro counting. It is life-changing.
